Zing Ear ZE-268S2 FAQs
-
How do I know if the Zing Ear ZE-268S2 switch will fit my fan?
The ZE-268S2 is a universal 4-wire switch. Check your existing switch for a matching layout: the terminal sequence should be 1-2-3-L (counterclockwise) with the black (AC line) wire connected to terminal โ3โ and it should match the electrical rating of 6A 125VAC / 3A 250VAC.
-
Can I use the ZE-268S2 to replace the ZE-208S2?
Yes. Theย ZE-268S2ย is the modern direct replacement for the olderย ZE-208S2ย model. It is also compatible with other 3-speed, 4-wire switches like the KTE 3089B, Wu Pin LJY-280A, and Well Tec E116997 WTC-1.
-
Can I use this for my ceiling fan light?
No. The ZE-268S2 is a 3-speed switch designed to control a ceiling fan motor. If youโre replacing a light switch, youโll typically need a 2-wire on/off switch such as the need a 2-wire on/off switch such as the Zing Ear ZE-109 or ZE-109M, or a 3-wire light switch like the ZE-110.
-
My fan is stuck on one speedโwill this fix it?
In many cases, yes. A worn or damaged pull chain switch can prevent the fan from changing speeds properly, causing it to remain on a single speed regardless of how many times the chain is pulled.
-
What problems does this switch solve?
Replacing a worn or defective switch can resolve several common ceiling fan problems, including a fan that stays on one speed, a broken or jammed pull chain, a fan that wonโt turn on or off properly, or speed settings that no longer operate as intended.
-
How do I wire the Zing Ear ZE-268S2 switch?
Before starting, turn off power to the fan at the circuit breaker and take a photo of the existing wiring for reference. Note which wire color is connected to each terminal (L, 1, 2, and 3) on the old switch. When installing the new switch, connect each wire to the same terminal designation. For example, if the blue wire is connected to terminal โ3โ on the old switch, connect it to terminal โ3โ on the new switch, and repeat this process for the remaining wires.

The fan hums but doesn’t move. What’s wrong?
A humming sound usually means power is reaching the fan motor, but the electrical circuit may not be connected correctly. Start by checking that all four wires are fully inserted into the switch terminals and connected to the correct terminal numbers. If the wiring is correct and the problem persists, the fan capacitor may be faulty and could also require replacement.

I have a ceiling fan that was in the house when I bought it 21 years ago. The fan switch broke. It’s a KTE 308-A that only had 3 wires attached. Red, Blue and Black. Nothing on terminal L. The switch is no longer made and other switches I purchased from local stores did not work. I found a random posting of someone with the same issue and he tried this switch and it worked. So I purchased it along with the 4 lead wires. I wired it exactly as the old switch was wired and it worked perfectly! I was about ready to throw the fan out but I no longer have to. The switch is also nice and small so it fit in the fan housing. It was delivered very quickly and was overall a great experience with Switch Prince and the product.
I will review when received and instaiied..
All went well as expected.
Contact so helpful. I had so much trouble getting correct part but it was my fault. Maybe a note could be put on webpage to read the fine print about the part needed. I ordered the wrong part because I didn’t know what I was doing and did not read all the information before ordering wrong (twice).
This fan pull switch, ZE-268S2, replaces the ZE-208S ceiling fan pull switch in my Hampton Bay ceiling fan. Couldn’t find the switches for my fan at the hardware store, so am happy I could get it here.
